Smart warehouse lighting in Kaunas
Signeda, a car body parts importer and exporter, lights its 10,000 square metre warehouse in Kaunas district with a Lusety system of a network router, microwave sensors and smart dimmers, and consumes 86% less energy than conventional warehouse lighting.
Here’s how smart warehouse lighting helped Signeda optimize its 10,000-square-meter warehouse in Kaunas, enhancing energy efficiency, safety, and overall visibility.
Location:
Kaunas district, Lithuania
Hardware:
- Lusety network router
- Microwave sensors
- Smart light dimmers
The challenge
A 10,000 square metre warehouse has activity zones that fill and empty at different times of day, and conventional lighting lit all of it at full output regardless, which drove energy costs up without improving visibility where work was actually happening.
When Signeda, a major importer and exporter of car body parts and lights across Northern and Eastern Europe, opened its 10,000-square-meter warehouse, lighting quickly emerged as a concern. Traditional lighting systems were driving up energy costs and proved inefficient for such a large industrial space. Especially one with varying activity zones and usage patterns throughout the day.
The company sought a solution that would ensure:
- High-quality illumination only when and where it was needed
- Wouldn’t compromise visibility and employee safety.
The solution: smart warehouse lighting
Lusety installed a network router for centralised control, microwave sensors that detect movement in open areas and between shelving units, and smart dimmers that adjust brightness by zone.
Together with Signeda, we implemented a smart lighting system built on three core components:
- Lusety network router for centralized control and seamless communication between devices
- Microwave sensors to detect movement in real-time, even in large open areas or between shelving units
- Smart light dimmers to automatically adjust brightness levels based on activity
This system allowed for precise, zone-based control and dynamic lighting adjustments throughout the warehouse.
Results & benefits
Energy consumption fell 86% against conventional warehouse lighting, and the payback on the investment is expected at 1.8 years.
- Significant energy savings
By using motion detection and dimming capabilities, Signeda reduced its energy consumption by 86% compared to conventional warehouse lighting systems. - Quick ROI
With such a substantial reduction in energy use, the entire lighting investment is expected to pay for itself in just 1.8 years. - Intelligent light management
Lights automatically dim or turn off in unused areas while maintaining full brightness in high-activity zones, ensuring optimal illumination. - Improved operational efficiency
The smart lighting system reduces the burden of manual light control and enables better oversight across the vast warehouse space. - Smart infrastructure for a growing business
This project demonstrates how smart lighting technology can transform industrial spaces by reducing energy costs, supporting sustainability goals, and offering flexible, future-ready infrastructure. For large-scale operations like Signeda’s, it’s not just about lighting—it’s about smarter ways of working.
